Equipped with a few site visits, engaging conversation with locals, statistical research, and intuition, I have begun to discover ways in which the existing infrastructure of the Air Base at Plattsburgh could be adapted for commercial uses.
My first observation involves a 5 square mile runway, hundreds of fuel outlets, and an abundance of air space... what do you get? A refueling station for international flights coming into the U.S. (re-routed from JFK) seems like a plausible solution.
Please take some time to observe what is happening in the above video and below diagrams of flight patterns. You may begin to understand the density of air traffic that is flying around Plattsburgh.
